Nektarios Farmakis

Governor of Western Greece

Nektarios Farmakis was born in 1980 in Agrinio. He studied Law at Democritus University of Thrace and holds a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedural Law. He is a lawyer at the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos) and a member of the Bar Association of Agrinio.

In 2010, at the age of 30, he was elected for the first time as a Regional Councilor of Western Greece, receiving the most votes in the Regional Unit of Aetolia-Acarnania. In the 2014 Regional Elections, he ran as a candidate for Deputy Regional Governor of the Regional Unit of Aetolia-Acarnania.In the Regional Elections of 2014, he ran as a candidate for Deputy Regional Governor of Aetolia-Acarnania.

In September 2019, he was elected Regional Governor of Western Greece as the head of the "Starting Over" coalition, winning with 56.38% in the second round.

He was re-elected as Regional Governor of Western Greece in the 2023 elections as the leader of the coalition "Forward for All," with 59.03% in the first round.

During his term as Regional Governor (2019-2023), he was a member of the Board and the Executive Committee of the Union of Greek Regions (ENPE), President of the Digital Governance Committee of ENPE, and a regular member of the Greek Delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

He is married to lawyer Evi Chr. Pappa and has two children.
