Deputy Minister of Tourism

Elena Rapti was born, raised, and lives in Thessaloniki. She graduated from Arsakeio School in Thessaloniki. She holds a degree in Greek Culture from the Open University of Cyprus and a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Winchester.

She worked as a freelancer in the field of audiovisual communication systems.

Political Career:

Elected as a Municipal Councilor of Thessaloniki for the first time in 1998.

Founding member of the Social Organization "Agapi" and the Volunteer Information Center "Team with You"

Re-elected as a Municipal Councilor of Thessaloniki in 2002, being the first in votes.

Elected as a Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki A with New Democracy in 2004.

Re-elected as a Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki A with New Democracy in 2007, 2009, in the double elections of May and June 2012, January and September 2015, July 2019, and in the double elections of May and June 2023.

Appointed Secretary of Volunteering & NGOs for New Democracy in 2011 by the party's President.

Appointed a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2012.

At the Council of Europe, she became a member of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development, the Committee on Equality & Non-Discrimination, a member of the Network of Parliamentarians to End Child Sexual Abuse, and the coordinator of the "ONE in FIVE" campaign of the Council of Europe in Greece.

Took on the role of Head of Culture for New Democracy in 2015. Appointed a member of the expert group for the EPAS program of the Council of Europe and the European Union titled: "PSS+ – Ending Sexual Harassment and Abuse of Children in Sport" in 2017.

In 2021, she was appointed head of the National Action Plan for the Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation. In 2022, she was appointed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the National Coordinator for the Prevention and Combatting of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.

In June 2023, she took on the duties of Deputy Minister of Tourism.
