CEO of TOBEA
Ignatios Fotiou holds an MBA from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a degree from the School of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Patras. He is the president of the company TOBEA Mechanical Applications (Thinking Out of the Box Engineering Applications), which was established in 2012 and specializes in the design, manufacture, and commercialization of innovative applications aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. He is one of the inventors of SEATRAC, the first device that provides autonomous access to the sea for people with mobility difficulties, with patents registered in Greece, Europe, and the USA. TOBEA exports SEATRAC to Cyprus, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, and the United Arab Emirates and has distribution agreements with partners in Austria, France, Turkey, and Spain.
TOBEA has received significant awards such as first place in the competition "Greece Innovates!" (2013), national innovation champion at the EBA (2015), national champion of Chivas Venture (2018), and "Start-Up of the Year" from the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2022).
Additionally, he is a co-founder of Adamant Composites Ltd, which provides high-value-added products and services for the aerospace industry, specializing in nanoreinforcement of composite materials.
