Vice President of The Left, Head of the SYRIZA Delegation in the European Parliament
Kostas Arvanitis is a journalist, Member of the European Parliament (MEP), head of the SYRIZA delegation in the European Parliament, and Vice President of The Left in the European Parliament.
He is a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and a substitute member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL).
Additionally, he is a full member of the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (D-RU) and a substitute member of both the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee (D-TR) and the Delegation for relations with Iraq (D-IQ).
Arvanitis is a journalist, presenter, and radio producer with an extensive career since 1984 in television, radio, newspapers, and magazines. He is also a member of the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA).
He served for several years on the Board of Directors of KETHEA (Therapy Center for Dependent Individuals) and was Vice President until 2017. Since 1987, alongside his journalism career, he has been actively involved in therapeutic community initiatives.
He has also worked as a football coach and head of youth academies in Athenian football.
