Angela Varela has served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Greek National Tourism Organisation since July 30, 2025 (Government Gazette 962/ΥΟΔΔ/30.07.2025), following the completion of the competitive selection process provided for under Law 5062/2023.

She studied Public Administration at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, from which she graduated in 1983.

She later continued her studies with a Master’s Program in Tourism Business Administration at the Hellenic Open University (2006). Subsequently, she completed a second master’s degree at the School of International Studies, Communication and Culture – Department of Communication, Media and Culture, in the postgraduate program New Media and Journalism, at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (2016).

Her professional career is closely linked with the Greek National Tourism Organisation, where she was appointed in 1983. Since then, she has served in positions of responsibility both in Greece and abroad, primarily in the field of tourism marketing.

She speaks English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
